Unfortunately optometry clinics/workers are almost non-existent in Afghanistan. But, people of all ages and in all areas need at least basic vision help. The needs can be met by using a very basic focometer, a supply of reading glasses, and a few volunteers. The volunteers can learn in a few simple lessons to determine strength of reading glasses needed, prescribe the glasses, and open a whole new world to the people.
